DragonSpeed IndyCar

Connexions Global Marketing works with DragonSpeed in developing and managing partnership for its global motorsports teams.

DragonSpeed is a multi-faceted race team presently participating in IndyCar, IMSA, and the ELMS series, the most recent highlight winning consecutive Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona races (LMP2 class) in 2019 and 2020.  In 2019, it became the first LMP2 team to win races in IMSA, World Endurance Championship, and European Le Mans Series competition.  Also in 2019, the team ran its first ever races in the NTT Data IndyCar series, culminating in successfully qualifying and racing in the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race.  2017 saw DragonSpeed capitalize on its breakthrough 2016 season, fielding two cars and winning the ELMS title. Run by former racer Elton Julian from premises in Indianapolis and France, the outfit has proved its mettle in a wide variety of machinery since 2010. It scored the best-ever Rolex 24 result for a Ferrari F430 in 2011, followed in 2013 by an IMSA LMPC campaign, while 2015 brought DragonSpeed its debut race victories and first championship crown in the Pirelli World Challenge for GT3 cars.

ACTIVATION

Support DragonSpeed and partners in working together to effectively activate programs to meet partnership goals.

CGM was originally involved in assisting with partnership development for DragonSpeed’s planned 2020 IndyCar program that was due to expand off the back of the team’s successful three race participation in the series during 2019.

CGM worked closely with the team to develop a value proposition that would appeal to prospective technical and commercial partners. We then set about to identify suitable target prospects, engaged them on DragonSpeed’s behalf, participated in partnership contract negotiations, provided account management services to the team for its partners, and assisted partners in activating their acquired rights from the team.

Because of Covid-19 induced schedule changes that severely curtailed the team’s planned IndyCar event participation, CGM became involved in pitching existing and potential partners on the benefits of the team’s sportscar programs (being that these were not as severely curtailed as its IndyCar schedule) as a way to deliver value to the partners involved in the IndyCar team program.
